Our original Estate blend, the fruit for Overthinker comes from our first plantings on the Linne Calodo Estate in 2005. These south- and east-facing blocks of Syrah and Grenache are named after my daughter Roxie, who was born the year they were planted. The Roxie blocks are kept warmer and protected from frost by the surrounding oaks, leading to a deeper and darker expression of Grenache than seen in Sticks and Stones. Dried cherries, violets, and star anise play into this stimulating blend. Drink now through 2024

Complexity may lead to overthinking. Upfront fruit on the nose and pallet. Raspberry sherbet, plums, quince. Cinnamon, star anise. Wild sage with an iron richness. Migratory flavors. Lively Tannins. Healthy acidity. Vanillin carrying through in the finish. Aged in a 3000 liter French oak foudre and a 2000 liter concrete tank. Drink now through 2023.

This wine is just getting better and better. From the rocks and soil that each vine is grown in, to the rain, fog, sun and wind that mark the vintage. The Overthinker is my life's story, the roots are getting deeper, flavors are mind-tingling and the wine is just great. The grapes were fermented in concrete, oak and open top tanks. Bottle-aged one year before release. Ages up to eight years.

Planting my own vineyards has been one of the best experiences in my life. My respect for farming, winemaking and Mother Nature will never be same. 100% Estate, aged in a mix of concrete and 500L casks. This wine is a liquid photograph of my experiences. Take my best vineyard blocks of grenache, syrah, and mourvèdre and let them tell the story. Naturally higher in tannin, I age the wine for one extra year in bottle. Simply amazing! This wine is drinking great now, but can also cellar for 10 years.

How do you farm? Work, work, work, learn, learn, learn. As apprehensive as I can be to start new projects, I constantly find that putting one foot in front of the other will create progress. The vines are youthful, planted in 2005 as one-year-old dormants from the nursery. Starting in 2007, I began to track my farming education with this wine, a.k.a. Overthinker (tells me where I am going, and what I will change). I would never say that I was born with a green thumb, but instead with an insatiable desire to learn. Grenache, syrah, mourvèdre, 100% Linne Calodo Estate, concrete fermented, partially co-fermented, co-pressed directly into barrel, blended in Spring 2011, stored in large 500L barrels. Bottled in April of 2012. Bright and texturally significant. Raspberries, liquorice and campfire jump to mind. Bold and seductive. As these roots sink deeper and deeper the wine follows in trail. Drink now thru 2020.

We have come full circle! In 2005 I planted the Estate Vineyard with one-year-old vines. In 2007, we harvested our first tiny crop of syrah, grenache, and mourvèdre. The fruit is magnificently flavored, dark, complicated, and brightly structured. So, without further ado, I would like to introduce you to the OVERTHINKER, comprised of 50% syrah, 40% grenache and 10% mourvèdre. This wine was made with passion, starting with each vine being cared for like a child. The Estate fruit was hand-harvested by everyone who works here at Linne Calodo: the always funny Mark Wiberg, the creative supernova Whitney Geer, the spunky and multi-talented Roseanne Rianda, and the Trevisan Clan. This self-titled debut represents everything that life has to offer in one glass and I must warn you, this is not your ordinary Linne Calodo! OVERTHINKER is a tight, yet balanced cornucopia of flavors with a modest dose of French oak. Drinking this wine is a bit like being out of control on a ski slope only to find that you have reached the bottom still standing, body intact. Hold on, it’s only going to get better from here.
